As an extremely energetic and excitable toddler, it was suggested to my mother that maybe she should take
me to ballet lessons to "tire me out". However, from the very first lesson it became clear that I had found
something that not only could I do but something I thoroughly enjoyed. The lessons started off as one half
hour session a week, but throughout the years it gradually increased to the stage that I was regularly taking
lessons and examinations in a variety of dance styles and competing in local festivals. My training started at
Allied Schools of Dance, Woodley, where I studied National, Greek, Spanish and Contemporary and completed all
my children's and major RAD Ballet and ISTD examinations in Tap and Modern. Also on several occasions throughout
my years of competing in festivals I obtained success within the All England Regional Dance Finals.

Following four years as a student teacher, within my local dance school, I was accepted at The Royal Academy
of Dance, London on the teacher's course. During this time I worked closely with two state schools in
London promoting dance to their pupils, many of who had no previous dance experience. The project involved
weekly workshops and choreographing several pieces for shows. I was also extremely fortunate during my
training at the RAD to be chosen, along with three fellow students, to perform at The Royal Opera House,
London, in a performance called 'First Nights At The Garden'.
Since graduating in 2001 with BA (Hons) in the Art and Teaching of Ballet, validated by the University of Durham,
and a licentiate awarded by the R.A.D, I have been working as a freelance dance teacher, promoting creative dance
within nursery schools in Berkshire and teaching in several well established dance schools in the area. I thoroughly
enjoy my work and am so fortunate that my mother chose to take me to those first ballet lessons, not only because
it gave me great confidence and many fantastic experiences, but, it also gave me the opportunity to pursue a
career in something I have a great love for. I do not think that there are many that can say that about a job
they do.
